ZED ZONE crafting stations and hard materials
Most “how do I get X” questions on the forum are really “which station makes X”. The developer’s own MOD docs list every crafting platform the game knows, which makes a reliable map of what to build next.

This is the CraftPlatform list from the developer’s MOD authoring reference (May 2026). Official The Electric Furnace, added in October 2026, smelts three times faster than the stone furnace. Official

Outputs marked Unverified come from a June 2025 player list of recipes by station; recipes have changed since. In game, skill tree nodes have named the required station in their “Unlocks Crafting” list since Beta 0.9.98. Official

Gathering with the matching melee tool is much faster since Beta 0.9.99.1, and wood can no longer be used as arrows. Official
Crafting rules that save trips
- Crafting pulls materials from containers within 6 tiles, nearest first, and from your backpack and clothing pockets. Official
- “Stash Into Nearby Containers” puts items into containers that already hold the same kind. Official
- The crafting panel searches recipes by name in your game language and in English. Official
- Ammo disassembles into shells and gunpowder, and craftable melee weapons and tools break down into materials (fewer at low durability). Official
Cooking and clean water
A pot over a campfire is a building recipe, not an item you place: players report it needs the cooking pot and pipes, then fuel and a light. Players report The electric kettle boils raw water from your inventory. Official
The early crafting chain, step by step
- By hand: plant fibre → rope; rope, rocks and sticks → stone axe and stone hammer. Players report
- Research the workbench in the skill tree with those two tools in your bag (they come back afterwards), then build the simple workbench. video, Oct 2026
- Stone furnace: unlocked with 10 rocks; build it outdoors and fuel it. It turns ore and scrap into plates. video Since Beta 0.9.95 furnace heat only does a quarter of the damage to nearby walls. Official
- Ammo crafting comes early in the tree; 9mm needs gunpowder, casings and the workbench. video
- Simple lathe: needs metal components to build; it then makes CNC components from iron plates. Players report
What the 3D printer needs
Players building the 3D printer report needing 10 CNC components, glass and a broken smart phone; the phone is also part of the battery charger. Players report CNC components come from the Simple Lathe, glass from smelting rocks in a furnace (four separate players say so), and the phone from basements or traders. Players report Engines and motors for repairs turn up in factories, a Chinese player reports. Unverified
